Myth: Housing is provided by the employer.
Truth: In some cases, this is true. However,
be aware of the following if your employer provides you with housing:
• You cannot live with your friends if they do
not work for the same company. Moreover, apartments
provided by employers are usually “girls only”
and “boys only” – strict rules do
apply about sharing the room between girls and boys.
• Once you leave the company (you quit the job),
you will have to leave the housing apartment as well. You lose
your job and housing at the same time.
Helpful Hint: Bring enough funds from home to cover
additional expenses, e.g., security deposit. Contact your employer
for any further questions.
Myth: Housing costs initiated on the contract are final
costs for the apartment.
Truth: Cost of housing initiated on your contract may
differ from the one you will have to pay when you get
there. Housing costs are usually higher during the peak
season. We are finding that $80 to $90 per week is the going rate, and does not often
include electricity or phone(should you desire a telephone)
Myth: Deposit will be refunded when you leave the apartment.
Truth: This myth is true in case you fulfill the following
conditions:
• You stay for the period upon the contract
• You did not cause any damage to the property
• You return the property (apartment) in a clean condition as you found it when you moved in to it
• You provide the receipt that you paid for the
deposit
BE SURE upon moving into any housing, that if there are any appliances, damage, or
other conditions which are unfavorable, that your landlord (the person or company you rent from)
is aware of it and will not hold you responsible for that when you leave at the end of the season, otherwise,
they may charge you from the security deposit for said damages or repairs.
